Conquer New York

Welcome to New York

I love to talk about New York. The city in itself has been my greatest dream, that is all you need to know for right now. Yes, a city can be a dream and a goal. I want everything New York; I want an apartment, I want a bagel, I want love, and I want art.

I want to give you some pointers on how to visit. This will help you if you are going to be a first timer in the city. Majority of the time I will be speaking about Manhattan, but It can be applied to any borough, except Staten Island, I have not been and sure do hope the tips could be applied there too.

1. What airport to land in.
2. Method of getting to the hotel and general transportation.
3. Where to stay.

1a. There are more than a couple of airports to land into. I personally like choosing a flight to La Guardia. It is a smaller airport so it is easy to just arrive and get your luggage and easy to get to your terminal, go through TSA and off you go. My first time to New York, I landed in JFK, I just wanted that iconic moment. Oh, and there is another airport to fly into. That is through Newark, in New Jersey. It is not as iconic, but also it is an easier way to get to the city.

2a. I highly recommend getting a taxi to the city, it will set you back bit, but totally worth it! You get a view of the Manhattan skyline as you drive in, and its just easier than taking a bus to the subway station and hauling your luggage through the train and changing a couple of trains. So do it on your way out as well, your feet and your mental health will thank me. Now, once you are in the city my favorite thing to do is to walk everywhere! You get to see a lot of the city and get a good feel of the enchantment of being a New Yorker. Sure, if something is too far, get yourself a week’s pass MetroCard for $30 for unlimited rides.

3a. I am very biased when it comes to where I stay. I usually stay at a Hilton or the Four Seasons (another story for another post,) but when it comes to New York I like to stay at the Empire Hotel in the Upper West Side because I saw it on Gossip Girl and the show was my life, and because of its art deco style. The Empire Hotel is very timeless New York and ugh I feel at home there. My Second option is to rent an apartment. It makes me feel like I am a local, and since it is always in my favorite neighborhoods, it is like a temporary dream come true.

New York is a whole world in its self, I do hope one day you get to visit and try out these small tips! I will be writing another post on what to do there. There is so much to do and how to do it that it is going to take more than one post. I don't want you to read for a long time! You got slaying to do!
