The Little Things

Merry post Christmas my loves! I do hope that your hearts are just as full as your tummies!
This week I wanted to write about something that I value, but the holiday spirit took over me!
I am usually known as the family’s Grinch because I am not the Holidays’ guy. Traffic is bad, grocery stores are packed, dinner planning takes over most of the time, and so on. This year was different, or maybe everything was the same, and I felt different this time. I want to say it was because I spent quality time with parents, and we were able to create a delicious menu. All of us were very impressed and appreciative of how everything turned out. Then, on Christmas Day I went to go help my recently added family to cook a massive dinner. It was very elaborate but I had a lot of fun, maybe it was the delicious wine and the delicious company as well that made everything very fun. There was a lot of work done in the last 3 days, but it was worth it.

I was smiling the whole entire time. There was a lot of love in my holidays, and no present in sight…yet. We got to opening presents and it just felt like it was an added bonus because the time spent with the family was enough to make me happy. By the end of the gift opening montage, I realized that I got a lot of things that make me really happy; I got shoes, body glitter, coffee, and gift card to Target! I thought it was amazing, not a lot in quantity, but a lot in emotional value. I looked back at everything and it was all the small things that really made me happy and made me think I am in a good place. It was the sweat drop running down my forehead as I cook with family and friends, it was the smile I saw when my mom tried my food experiment, the thoughts behind all the gift exchanges…and many countless things that I witnessed.

I knew the little things in life can give you joy, but dear Lord! Now it is engraved in my core.

Till next year, dolls!
