Travel Ban

As I sip my delivered overpriced coffee drink, I am here to tell you that the inability to travel is killing me. Our Passports are not working in other countries, we can’t go to our neighboring state without the risk of getting exposed to the virus, and most places are closed. Which is good because it is for our health, but my entitled ass can’t help it feel restricted. So, I did the next best thing. I went on a small hike and visited a state park  while complying to social distancing. This led me to ask, what other things I can do to cope with this travel ban?

Stay-cation!

I don’t know about y’all, but 80% of my vacations revolve around food. So even if it is for a day you can sleep in make coffee and order in all of your meals for that day or weekend. Watch movies, open a bottle of wine, get special entrees. I can go to your back yard and sip your wine or you can go on walks and explore your neighborhood. You’d be surprise of how most of us hardly use our backyards.

Outdoor Activities

I know that there is some type of outdoor activity around you, so take advantage of it. You could be in New York and have access to Riverside Park, Prospect Park, or Central Park, so no excuses. We cannot be picky so let’s work with what we got. There are bike rentals you could use and take a stroll. Simply clean them before and after your use. There could be a state park you could visit like me.

Virtual Happy Hour

I have been fortunate enough to make acquaintances around the world, and could schedule a virtual Happy Hour. If it is morning to you, you can do mimosas. If it is an evening for you, it is even better because you can have a stiffer drink. You can have it at any time, but for the purpose of mimicking social events, I went with those two options. You are never alone.

There you have it. Those are my three ways to cope with the inability to travel. I cannot wait to show you what I did in my little trip. The time I spent with my family were very comforting despite what we are going through. I guess it was a huge reassurance that we will make it through.
