Dew-it For the Win!

Everyone who knows me, can safely say I have a delicious obsession. In the future, those who will know me, will get bombarded with my thirst for skincare. There is something powerful about having a healthy glow that makes my knees weak. I just want my enemies to see their reflections on my strong cheekbones, that is my ultimate goal! To some it may be a tad extreme, but for me, I am totally here for it. *Wink*

Diving into skincare can be scary, overwhelming to say the least. We are blessed with the abundance of products, brands, and ingredients. Unfortunately the abundance can paralyze you because you don’t know where to start. Don’t worry, I am here with my cup of coffee to guide you into this world. Start with three steps: cleanse, moisturize, and protect.

Cleanse: Look for a cleanser that is gentle enough to not strip or dry out your skin. I personally use “First Aid Beauty’s” “Pure Skin Face Cleanser.” It has Allantoin, which calms and soothes the skin. It has a lovely cream-to-foam consistency that feels amazing when you use it. I personally avoid any type of fragrance because fragrances and essential oils tend to irritate my skin.

Moisturize: After you cleanse, dab any excess water off, but leave your face damp. When you apply a moisturizer on damp skin, it helps to retain moisture in your skin. Look for fragrance-free products. This product has to be up to your skin. If you have dry skin, look for a creamy and heavier moisturizer. If you have normal-to-combo skin, look for a lighter lotion. If you have oily skin, look for a gel moisturizer, this delivers moisture without suffocating your skin. I use “Krave Beauty’s” “Oat So Simple.” It is a simple moisturizer that is a gel like lotion that feels like a glass of water to your skin every time you use it.

Protect: This step is crucial. You have to wear SPF everyday! No Excuses! Sun exposure damages and increases aging. So protect what you are nourishing, otherwise you are wasting your time and money on your routine. I am obsessed with “The Beet Shield” by “Krave Beauty.” This is a lovely sunscreen that does not feel or smell like your traditional chalky American sunscreen. It hardly has a scent and putting it on feels like an additional moisturizer.

That is it! That is what you need to start your skincare journey. Not only is it to start, but it can be your only routine. It is simple and effective. With time you will know if you want to add more steps and include active ingredients that will aid your skin in a desired direction.

These are the fundamental tools that I use to build on my routine. Sometimes when I use too many products and my skin needs a break, I go back to these steps. I simplify and let my routine do its magic. With time and patience, like me, you too can glow on dem hating hoes!
